Fyback transformers are generally either driven in "flyback mode", or some push-pull topology. Sign In Sign Up. I have constructed the circuit though my timer is heating up, I am using a 12v mA supply, I am hesitant of hooking it up to a 2 amp supply if it is already heating up the timer.
When you say the sound input modulates the pulse width, does it actually turn the arc on and fluback or just control the intensity?
At mA the voltage drop is at 2,5 VDC. As this circuit has the timer supplied from the same source as the primary circuit you can not supply it with more than the maximum ratings for the specific timer type you use, look it up in the datasheet. I have read in this comment page that the more windings you have for the primary the less voltage you get. James Howells - You TuBe sparkfishes says: Thank you for sharing your project online like this. This is what my multimeter says.
In order to have a good audio reproduction the arc needs to be thin, steady and silent. The only things that I can think would make this not work would be the rubber wire coating is too thick or that the direction of winding matters. Hi once again, after hooking the cicuit up to a 12v power supply, there are only minute sparks forming, less than 1mm.
If you want to audio modulate with a ZVS driver, you will have to build a way more complicated amplifier to modulate the supply voltage as the ZVS driver is self oscillating. Simply take the HV lead and bring it near the pins on the bottom. flybaci
My little high voltage project is having a snag.
The diode and capacitors protects the transistor from high voltage transients that will eventually kill your transistor. You 2n3505 down to the essence of the problem and this is also written in that start of this article, the is grossly underrated for driving a MOSFET gate, it really should have help from a transistor pair or a gate drive IC.
Its saturation region is another story. What program do you use to rlyback your schematics? Hello, I believe your schematic is wrong: Thanks again mads great project.

Hi, I have some issues with this circuit or flybqck other circuit not working with my transformer. I also burned my finger! I also added a single NPN pre amp and a single NPN square wave converter with a pot so I can control the duty cycle before it enters the interrupter.
October 27, at Is it the transistors or what? A separate gate driving voltage is properly needed to avoid dissipating too much energy in resistors and zener diodes. Perhaps a huge capacitor?
This is in the low end for a monitor flyback so further improvements will be adding a potentiometer to adjust frequency to match the resonant frequency of the flyback.
Winding your own Primary I recommend winding your own primary for several reasons. It works great so thanks Mads. Well on a good note I got a spark I just had to manually tap the switch on an off. What kind of transformer are you trying to drive?
What purpose does the small capacitor across the protection diode serve? Proudly powered by WordPress.
